How Do You Support a Friend or Loved One Living with Diabetes?

Get Sleek With SleekSleeves in Support of Diabetes

Happy World Diabetes Day! To enter today's special giveaway, tell us in the comments below how you support a friend or loved one with diabetes. The winner will be announced on Saturday, November 15 at noon. This giveaway is now over. Congratulations to Judy P.!

At SleekSleeves, support is the core of our mission and we’re dedicated to supporting our communities year round by bringing together fashion and function to medical device coverage. November provides a unique opportunity to the many diabetes communities that we support to raise awareness of a disease that affects over 25 million people in the United States alone.  We are very excited for the initiatives that we have put together for the month of November.

We’re pleased to have launched the Get Sleek in Support of Diabetescollection, which features some of our favorite and most popular patterns. What’s even more special about this collection is that 10% of the proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association, which is a national non-profit that is “the nation’s largest voluntary health organization leading the fight to Stop Diabetes®.”  We are very proud to support an organization that has brought over $650 million to diabetes research and continuously provides diabetes education and support.

In addition to the collection, we’re thrilled to host a special giveaway in honor of World Diabetes Day on Friday, November 14 where one winner will receive their choice of two SleekSleeves from the collection. To enter, tell us in the comments below how you support a friend or loved one with diabetes. The winner will be announced on Saturday, November 15 at noon.

The diabetes community has long been a strong supporter of SleekSleeves. Advocates, including the family support system at Inspired by Isabella and our all-star T1D gymnast and cheerleader Taylor Heid provide inspiration to those with diabetes and instill the notion that diabetes does not define their ability to succeed. Their inspiration reinforces our mission to help individuals facing medical challenges “Look Good and Feel Better.”

To give everyone a fair opportunity to participate, here are a few guidelines and information about SleekSleeves promotions:

My wife has diagnosed about 2 years ago. She has really done a wonderful job paying attention to her eating habits. I try to support her by making meals that help to keep her balanced. I often need to remind her to listen to her body and check her levels before they get too low. Helping with hot compresses & massages to sooth those midnight leg cramps.

I help by listening to them. Also, helping with their temptations with certain foods and daily menu.

I support a loved one with diabetes by being there for them when they need me. I am there to listen to their problems and to give them support and to help them through their hard times. I make sure to understand what they are going through and to let them know that I am there for them.
